Description
Are you looking for some fun and fresh Valentine’s Day activities for elementary students?Β This Math and Nonfiction Reading activity tells the history of Valentine’s Day with an engaging twist that your kiddos will really enjoy!
Your students will read informational text passages about how Valentine’s Day begin. I have arranged the questions about the holiday on pictures that we have cut apart in random order.
To solve each mystery picture, your students need to answer the reading comprehension questions accurately.
I have built Answer Key slides into the activity so that students can check their work as they go along.
These valentine’s day activities for elementary students also have a section with:
- A Kiddle.co research writing assignment on the history of Cupid
- An opinion writing assignment on eating Sweethearts aka Conversation Hearts Candy

My students enjoyed this as a break from the normal day to day work. Many of my students could do the reading part fairly independently. I had to modify the math to make it work for my students. They really enjoyed making the pictures. I enjoyed being able to step back and let them be more independent!
